“If you want to be happy, you just have to do what you love.”

We’ve all heard this saying, haven’t we?

But what does this actually mean? How can we take this and implement it in our lives? How can we actually do what we love and not get caught up in everything else?

The questions go on and on.

Hi, I’m Dara; I love what I do, and I want to take a moment to introduce you to the passion paradigm.

What is the passion paradigm?

To define “passion paradigm,” I think it would be helpful to define the two words.

Passion is defined as an “intense, driving, or overmastering feeling or conviction.”

A paradigm is defined as “a philosophical and theoretical framework of a scientific school or discipline within which theories, laws, and generalizations and the experiments performed in support of them are formulated.”

Therefore we can define the passion paradigm as an intense feeling and a theoretical framework…?

Ok… Maybe that doesn’t clear things up.

I like how this article puts it when it says,

“The passion paradigm prioritizes the pursuit of work passion as a rational act of self-care. It follows the logic that full-time work takes up a large portion of life and that work absent of enjoyment is an egregious and unnecessary sacrifice.”

But let’s push dictionary definitions and other people’s interpretations aside. The passion paradigm is the pursuit of doing what you love, even if it’s not the most logical thing.

Why is the passion paradigm important?

If you work a full-time job, you know how time-consuming it is.

Whether you like it or not, you’re spending a lot of time in your job. We live in a world where consumerism and capitalism are constantly telling us that to be successful we need to make more money, and to make more money, we need to work our way up in…
